Experience
My tutoring philosophy focuses on the student's academic needs. It is very important to focus on each student as an individual with unique academic skills and challenges. I received an bachelor's degree in political science from American University, and have a master's degree in teaching from SUNY Stony Brook. I've also taught in a high school resource classroom for over a decade, working with students in small groups so that I can focus on each student as an individual. As a teacher, I have primarily worked with juniors and seniors in high school on general curriculum and offering support in major academic subjects. I have also tutored students one-on-one at both the high school and college level. My strongest tutoring areas are high school mathematics like algebra and trigonometry, and I can also tutor students in psychology, U.S. history, literature, English, science, and social sciences. I also help with essay writing, editing, and reading skills. I work with students on standardized tests like the SAT and GED, too, because continuing education is very important. When I am not working closely with students, I love music and art. I also love to go to the beach.
